Rita Wood took her BA in Geography in 1958, and published her research into Romanesque sculpture as journal articles from 1994. She was a fieldworker for www.crsbi.ac.uk (The Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland) from 1995. Rita published two books on the subject of her special interest: Romanesque Yorkshire (Yorkshire Archaeological Society, 2012) and Paradise: The World of Romanesque Sculpture (YPD books, 2017). Afterwards she became a regular contributor to the Victorian Web, building up our section on Victorian York, right up until her final illness in 2024.
