Terence Dawson, who has taught in Brazil and at the National University of Singapore, currently teaches at Nanyang Technical University, Singapore. Professor Dawson holds a Ph. D. from the University of East Anglia.

The author of articles on Oscar Wilde, George Eliot, and and Emily Brontë, he has served as the co-editor of a student anthology of seventeenth-century poetry, and with Polly Young-Eisendrath he edited the recent The Cambridge Companion to Jung (1977). In 2004 Ashgate published his book-length study of nineteenth-century British fiction, A Cruel God: Gender and the Effective Protagonist.

His contributions to the The Victorian Web include both discussions of individual authors and Jungian approaches to fictional technique.
