In reply to your letter of the 23st ultimo, I have to inform you that the correspondence respecting your proceedings at Damascus and subsequent to your return in India, was transmitted by Government to Secretary of State for India, and that it is believed that your removal from the Army has been consequent therein, but beyond the G.G.O. No 551 of the 2nd October last, the Commander-in-Chief is not in possession of any further information respecting you--
