The article also includes the verso (St. George and the dragon) of the gold medal presented to each member of the organizing committee, with the space between the two images taken up with commentary. "The presentation, it will be seen by the accompanying letter, was intended to have been made on the day of closing the Exhibition [15 October 1851], but was unavoidably deferred until the present year." The Prince's letter to Francis Fuller, "one of the most active of the Committee," which the Prince Consort dictated to his secretary, C. Grey, is headed "Windsor Castle, October 15, 1851."
