After I invited the composer to include some comments on his musical setting for Rossetti's poem, he sent along the following: "It was a lucky coincidence in autumn last year when I had a simple, but nice little melody in mind and just started to read some poems from the 19th century — and came across the "Song" by Christina Rossetti. These were the lines I was looking for, to my feeling the poem and the tune went together very well. As I came to the studio to produce this piece of music, it was clear that the instrumentation, like the poem, should be somehow bright and gloomy at once. That's why the celtic harp was chosen as leading instrument." [GPL].
