Pugin designed most of the windows in the main body of St Paul's, including all but one of those in the south aisle. They seem to have been slightly later than the East and West windows, apparently dating from early in the 1850s. Made up by the firm of John Hardman, they are likely to have been cartooned by Pugin as well, as they postdate F. W. Oliphant's employment with him. They show Bishops and Kings "beneath elaborate Gothic canopies and against patterned backgrounds" (Cormack).
