St Margaret, Bodelwyddan, Clwyd, N. Wales

With angels above and on either side, the crucified Jesus is mourned by Mary Magdalene, kneeling at the foot of the cross, with hands clasped in prayer, and her vessel of precious ointment beside her. The other mourners include Mary (in blue) and St John on the right side of the cross, and among the bystanders stands a soldier with raised spear. The city of Jerusalem can be seen in the background.
