The artist’s name appears beneath the engraving at lower left, the engraver’s at lower right.

Cleopatra, unlike most of Meadow’s work for the three-volume Shakespeare, is one of the many portraits of women in the plays, some of which, such as those by Augustus Egg, reproduced oil paintings.
