This illustration for the British Household Edition of Dickens's Hard Times for These Times depicts Stephen and Rachael in front of the steps leading to the street near Stephen's room (Book I, Ch. 13, p. 41). After the drama in the sickroom over the poison bottle, Stephen venerates the saintly Rachael.
