Blore clearly enjoyed executing very finely detailed, intricate designs, and these were in great demand in topographical books. Here he focuses on the gates of the splendid mansion he designed in Salford, Greater Manchester, for the Earl of Ellesmere, a deecendant of the 3rd Duke of Bridgewater, of Bridgewater Canal fame.
