Parcel gilt satinwood breakfast table. Holland and Sons, manufacturer. c. 1865-68. “the circular banded top with gilt-bronze rim and raised on triangular pedestal support on concave sided triangular base with gilt-bronze finials and beading, 4 feet; 122cm diam., stamped ‘Holland and Sons;’ The original cost of this breakfast table was £38 18s, and the Holland and Sons records state that when it was originally supplied to Mr Thornton the table was ‘old stock’. This table comes from a ”collection of furniture was originally commissioned in 1868 by Mr R. N. Thornton from Holland and Sons, Mount Street, for his country house, Knowle Cottage, Sidmouth, Devon. Ex Collection Miss E. M. Thornton” (32).
