James Smith & Sons
53, New Oxford Street
London WC1
According to Jones and Woodward, this establishment has "an intact nineteenth-century shop front, retaining its highly graphic Victorian typography" (239). Compare this to the (restored) painted signage on another London shop.
[I remember buying an umbrella here in 1964. James Smith & Sons used to be one of the few places that would or could repair umbrellas, but I see that they now work only on ones they've sold.]
