The pub’s information plaque explains that a tavern with the same name has been on this site since 1734. “After the 18th Century pub was demolished in 1897, to be replaced by the present building. It is thought to have one of London’s most exquisite interiors of the late Victorian period.” George Orwell frequented this pub. Click on images to enlarge them.
