King's Royal Rifle Corps Memorial
John Tweed (1869-1933)
Cathedral Close, Winchester
The city of Winchester has had a long tradition of training the rifle brigades: see also the memorials to Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Berkley Pigott and others inside the cathedral. The inscription on another memorial” by Tweed, in Grosvenor Place, London, "records that 11,375 men of the Rifle Brigade fell in the 1914-19 war" ("Tweed, John").
