The inscription reads in part, “Colonel of HM 32nd reg[iment] he served with that regiment in Canada during the rebellion in 1837, in the Punjab 1848-49, at the Battle of Gujarat and siege and capture of Mooltan 1849, and during the Indian Mutiny of 1857 commanded the garrison of Lucknow for 87 days against an overwhelming force of the enemy.”
Bronze plaque below the inscription possibly depicting the Siege of Lucknow.
