The Knight of the Once, by Sir George Frampton, RA The Knight of the Once, by Sir George Frampton, RA

The Knight of the Once. Bronze with wooden base missing its inscription. 22 ½ inches high, 28 ¼ inches overall Signed and dated: “Geo. Frampton RA 1918.” Private Collection. Click on images to enlarge them.

This is the same figure as the knight on the memorial for W. T. Stead on the Victoria Embankment, London. In addition, the Imperial War Museum has a similar piece with a more ornate base, and it is also very similar to St. George, illustrated as St. George in Speilmann, page 93.
