Dr William Dale (1829-95) was a well-known Congregationalist preacher who for over four decades ministered at Carrs Lane Church, Birmingham. Dr Dale was born in London but studied theology at Springhill College, Birmingham, and was later granted a Doctor of Laws degree by the University of Glasgow in 1883. [Commentary continues below.]
