Seated statue of St. Matthew, by H. H. Armstead, together with (right) the sculptor's design. The statue is the first in the row of the four Evangleists on the side of the south-west tower of Llandaff Cathedral. The gospel-writer is identified by his usual iconography: a winged man, seen in relief just below him.
