For the Soldiers' Children

John Leech

Wood engraving

Punch 27 (1854): 184

John Leech has not rendered "For the Soldier's children" (exhorting the British public to contribute to a fund for the support of children of soldiers killed in the Crimea) in his usual caricatural style, so the readers would have apprehended that this signed drawing was not satirical.
