The Prince’s Progress

Unknown subject (a woman standing at a window with outstretched arms)

Artist: Elizabeth Siddal

Circa 1855

Pen and ink drawing

Siddal’s subject is unknown, but may have been an influence on Dante Rossetti’s designs for his sister Christina Rossetti's’s The Prince’s Progress. Tellingly, it was formerly attributed to Rossetti, which suggests how absolutely he assimilated the motif into his art.
