Introduction
Peter, a somewhat mysterious figure who painted moody atmospheric night scenes somewhat in the manner of Atkinson Grimshaw, does not receive mention in half a dozen books on British land- and seascapes that I consulted. I recall being told, many years ago now, that he sometimes painted on top of photographs, though I don't see how that would be possible with the two large paintings represented on this site. — George P.
