Evening is a typical Etruscan composition with its broad panorama of a bleak landscape at dusk painted in subdued tonalities of grey, brown and green. Two sheep are seen grazing on the stunted vegetation. This painting once belonged to Lady Cecilia Howard, George Howard’s daughter. — Dennis T. Lanigan
