Replica of the 1825 John Stevens “Steam Wagon”. Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, Strasbourg, Pennsylvania. According to the museum's trackside information board, Stevens operated his Steam Wagon in a loop on his Hoboken estate to demonstrate the feasibility of steam power. Stevens chartered the first railroad in Pennsylvania in 1823, but it was never constructed, but his 1830 Camden and Amboy Railroad was constructed. The Pennsylvania Railroad built this replica in 1939 for the World's Fair along with the John Bull. [Click on images to enlarge them.]
