I built the limestone quarry and plant from a Suydam metal kit (now in 2006 made by Alpine Division Scale Models) that had to be soldered together. I published two articles about and its prototype in Cumberland, Rhode Island, in Railroad Modeler. The black gondolas, like the 4-wheel flatcars in the background, are Red Ball kits, to both of which I added old-time link-and-pin couplers. The little green 1920s truck is from a Jordan kit. Building the kit was good practice soldering, particularly when I later wanted to work with brass for the cab of the 0-4-0 pushing the flatcars, but I didn't like the results — my soldering was too crude — so I finally broke up the kit and threw it away. I think the photo looks better than the real thing [GPL].
