1872 Potter’s brother, Bertram, is born.

1890 Potter sells drawings to Hildesheimer & Faulkner that were used as Christmas and New Year cards.

1891 Potter’s beloved grandmother, Jessie Potter, dies.

1892- Potter becomes interested in drawing and studying fungi.

1897 Potter submits a paper on fungi to the Linnean Society on March 18 and withdrew it on April 8 of the same year.

1901 Potter self publishes The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

1902 The Tale of Peter Rabbit published by Fredrick Warne. From 1902-1913, Warne published at least one book by Potter.

1903 Potter obtains a patent for her Peter Rabbit doll.

1905 During the summer, Potter becomes engaged to Norman Warne, one of the editors at Frederick Warne. Potter’s parents object to the engagement and the intended wedding.

1905 Norman Warne dies of leukemia on August 25.

1905 Potter buys Hill Top Farm in Near Sawrey, the Lake District.

1910 Potter supports the Unionist campaign in the election.

1913 Potter marries William Heelis.

1914 Potter’s father dies.

1917 Harold Warne, one of the owners of the publishing firm, is arrested for fraud. To help the company regain financial footing, Potter writes Appley Dapply’s Nursery Rhymes and produces two painting books.

1918 Potter’s brother, Bertram, dies.

1932 Potter’s mother dies.

1943 Potter dies.

1945 William Heelis dies.
