Agony in the Garden
Charles Eamer Kempe
St. Barnabas, Pimlico
After 1907
Stained glass
The window carries the inscription, "Pray for the soul of Mary Isabella Gower an original benefactress of this church and parish, who retired into rest August 26th 1907." This was the very year that Kempe died; the firm was therefore now in the hands of his nephew Walter Tower. Hence, in the lower left-hand corner, behind the figure of Jesus, a dark tower appears on the Kempe signature of a golden wheatsheaf. [Click on the image to enlarge it.]
