A Vaccarme by Frederick Walker, initial illustration for Anne Thackeray Ritchie's novella The Village on the Cliff in The Cornhill Magazine, 14 (January 1867): facing page 641. 4 inches by 6.5 inches (10.1 cm high by 16.5 cm wide). In book form, Smith, Elder marketed the story as "The Village on the Cliff. By the author of 'The Story of Elizabeth.' With six illustrations by Frederick Walker." The engraver​ for the whole series was Walker's usual interpreter, Joseph Swain.
