Advertisement for three editions
c. 1910
I believe Florella Orowan of City Nights Books in Boston, Massachusetts, provided this advertisement for Willy Pogány's illustrated version of Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. This notice exemplifies a common publishing practice in early twentieth-century and later lavishly illustratd editions, such as one encounters in the works of Arthur Rackham and Edmund Dulac: ordinary, limited, and deluxe editions, some of which appeared in vellum bindings. — George P.
