Sketch from "Introductory" in His horn book, for the use of greenhorns and others who would learn of the anthropophagi and divers strange things existing at the end of the XIXth century, by Wallis Mackay, 1898. Presumably this shows what happens if introductions are not made, as Mackay puts it, with "delicacy and tact," and underlines the need for "Modesty and Brevity" in offering a book to its public. This poor poet has had a very poor reception!
