The Prince’s Progress

The Prince’s Progress

Artist: Dante Gabriel Rossetti

1865

Pencil, pen and ink

164 x 119 mm

This is Rossetti’s final treatment of the attendant who speaks to the Prince, giving material form to what is a disembodied voice in the poem. Her costume, like that of the main characters, is very much in line with the medieval garb of Rossetti’s watercolours of the 1850s.
