Pugin wrote of his schemes for the Convent that "the whole are extremely simple in design but yet of strictly ecclesicstical charucter, and from the unity of style which pervades the whole of this edifice, and which extends to the fumiture and other fittinqs it produces a striking illustration of the old religious houses . . ."
