Ebonized mahogany writing cabinet with stained and leaded glass, originally from Hill House. Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Source: Euler, The Glasgow Style, courtesy of Christie's.
Another view of the writing bureau, which very much reflects the influence of geometrical Japanese design. Like so much of Mackintosh’s furniture, it is hard to believe that it would ever be comfortable to use.
Formatting by George P. Landow and Jacqueline Banerjee. Second photograph and caption, Simon Cooke.
