Although the church pamphlet states that William Morris designed these tiles, Chris Blanchett wrote (2013) to explain that “They were in fact made and supplied by another of G E Street's colleagues, Frederick Garrard. Garrard worked at the Millwall Potteries in London from about 1868 to his death in 1893 making very passable copies of Spanish cuenca tiles (as here) and early Dutch polychrome delftware tiles.”
