John Illingworth Kay has a textile and wallpaper designer, although he did design book covers for the Silver Studio. The image shown here is a typically organic motif, a type privileged by Art Nouveau. Kay’s deployment of the all-flowering plant aligns the periodical with the latest development in the ‘New Art.’
