Another of Robinson’s single-figure designs, which acts a sign of the magical stories, for children, contained in the pages. There is a strict continuum between the gilt motif on the front cover and Robinson’s many full-page illustrations, initial letters and head and tail-pieces, which, taken together, create a complete visual scheme. The book as a whole is one of Robinson’s best late-Victorian books for the juvenile market.
