Card binding for ‘Two Gentlemen of Verona’

Talwin Morris

[1898]

Card binding

6¼ x 3¾ inches

Published by Gresham, a subsidiary of Blackie, this is one in the series of ‘The Red Letter Shakespeare’. Essentially a pocket-book, its minor status is belied by the elegance of its cover design; exemplifying the Glasgow Style, it incorporates an ovoid central panel superimposed on geometrical lines in the manner of applied art produced in the city’s celebrated School of Art and promoted by the ‘Glasgow Four’.
