Martin Brothers Vase decorated with three medieval women by Robert Wallace Martin. Salt-glazed stoneware, 7.7 inches (19.5 cm) high. Collection: Arbatel Antiques. The three panels each depicting a woman painted in blue wearing medieval dress, the first playing a mandolin, the second holding a sheaf of wheat, the third her dress adorned with circle and cross emblems or the Celtic cross symbol. Each woman is separated by Medieval archways, the handle moulded like an antler or horn, the top of the jug decorated with seven bands of geometric symbols, and the whole vessel glazed in shades of green and blue on a buff ground.
