Both husband and wife have walking sticks (his hangs from his elbow as he lights a cigarette), but whereas the woman wears the kind of day dress she would wear in London, the man has breeches and long stockings. [In the cartoon the new wife tells her husband she “cannot endure tobacco,” and he responds that he would never force her to smoke.]
