The Peter Green House, 1868, formerly 142 Angell Street, now 79 Brown Street (corner of Brown and Angell Streets), Providence, Rhode Island. Photograph and text by George P. Landow. Between July 25th and August 7th, 2008, this 300-ton building, which houses Brown University's Department of History, was rotated 90 degrees and moved to its present Brown Street location. The university's Department of Facilities Management has placed online a stop motion video of the process. Note mansard roof — the influence of French Second Empire style on American wooden domestic architecture.
