Terrace in Chesterton Road, Cambridge. Later nineteenth century. ccording to the Victoria County History, "successive terraces of tall middle-class houses were put up along the north side of Chesterton Road" from the late 1840s onwards (Wright and Lewis). However, these Grade II listed Victorian buildings are only described as nineteenth century in their council listing; and the Arundel House Hotel, to which several have been converted, only claims to datAe from "around 1890" (see "Cambridge 2000"). Whenever they were built, their tall gables and towers make them particularly impressive, especially when compared with the lower terrace to the right.
