East Window by Charles Alexander Gibbs (1825-1877), installed in 1867 in St James's Church, St James's Street, Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.

Close-up of the central light with the adjacent one on the right.

This beautiful window "depicts Our Lord blessing children and was installed ... by The Revd. J. Blackburn, Rector of this parish from 1853-1870 in memory of his youngest son who died at the age of 24" (St James's Church, 2). At either side there are banners with texts from the Sermon on the Mount, reading (left) "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth," and (right) "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." The flowers and rich colours make this a cheerful window, full of hope and trust in the central figure.
