The Three Marys at the Tomb

(Attributed to) Jean-Baptiste Capronnier

After 1884

South wall, west window

St Paul's, Heslington

Yorkshire

One angel points upwards, the other extends a hand towards the kneeling Mary Magdalene. This is another of the three side windows of the chancel in memory of Mary Elisabeth Bateson de Yarburgh, who died in 1884. Again, the gestures are very expressive, and the background of sky, tree and flowers fills the scene. In such respects, this obviously matches the other two windows attributed to Capronnier here.
