This impressive funerary monument to Bruce, who mapped Hadrian's Wall and wrote a famous book about it, is in the Cathedral of St Nicholas, Newcastle upon Tyne. Bruce was buried in the old cemetery at Jesmond. George Blackall Simonds also created the memorial to Sir Joseph Bazalgette on the Victoria Embankment in London.
