Thomas Jones Mackie (1888-1955) was a Scottish bacteriologist associated with the University of Glasgow and the Glasgow Western Infirmary, where he joined pathologist and bacteriologist Professor Robert Muir (1864-1959) around 1911. In 1914, at the outbreak of war, Mackie became part of the Army Medical Corps; he served in the Middle East and eventually was placed in command of the Central Bacteriological Laboratory in Alexandria, Egypt.
