Fun (17 August 1887): 74

“Give me your hand,” said he,
As they strolled by the marge of the sea,
Where the rocks were rugged and bold.
“Allow me to help you down” —

And gave him her hand to hold.
That wee hand, with its nervous clasp,
He held in his manly grasp —
And he said, “Now I’ve got your hand
Let me keep it — we’ll say —‚ for life —
And add, dear, your heart — be my wife!”
And soon in the church they were “banned.”
