Ella was a prominent violinist, music critic, and founder and director of the Musical Union. Ella was born in Leicester. He was a violinist and music critic who wrote for the Morning Post, The Athenaeum and The Musical World. His major contribution to the musical world of nineteenth-century London was as the founder and director of the Musical Union, a society dedicated to the performance of chamber and instrumental music to the highest standards.
