The Star of Hope

Design for stained glass

Holy Trinity Church, Northwood, Greater London

This window to Tim Evelyn Evans, a young man who lost his life in a submarine during World War I, is rightly described as "striking" (Cherry and Pevsner 342). It also carries a poignant message: the star beams brightly on the choppy water, and inscribed at the foot of the scene are the words, "Then be not sorry like men without hope" from 1 Thessalonians 4,13.
