hoebe Caldwell is best known for her pioneering work on communication and emotional engagement with people with autism, and has published twelve books on the subject, as well as three on old age. In 2011 she was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Science (DSc) by Bristol University for her work on communication with people on the autistic spectrum and those with profound multiple learning disabilities. She is now preparing a book on one of her most intriguing forebears, who, as "Mrs Hervey," caused a sensation by publishing her journals about her travels in "Tartary, Thibet, China, & Kashmir" in the early 1850s. The book "plaits" her story with that of a much more recent explorer, Phoebe's co-author, Elspeth Bradley, and promises to be another inspiring read. Phoebe's own website is here: PhoebeCaldwell.com.
