ory Agazarian, our multi-talented History Editor, received her doctorate in Modern European History from the Graduate Center, CUNY in 2018. Specializing in Modern Britain, her scholarship focuses on consumer culture, Victorian historicism, and global responses to modernization in the nineteenth century. Her publications include peer-reviewed articles in The Journal of Victorian Literature and Culture and Nineteenth-Century Contexts. She has regularly presented her work at national and international conferences. In a forthcoming book, Buying Time: Consuming Urban Pasts in Nineteenth-Century Britain, she explores the relationship between history and consumerism in the nineteenth century. In particular, the book draws attention to intersections between academic and consumer practices, tracing connections between formal histories, popular culture, and museology. As an educator, Dr. Agazarian has over a decade of experience teaching at college campuses across New York City. Her courses range from British history electives to surveys spanning the ancient world to the present. For many years she has served as the Assistant to the Director at the Center for Jewish Studies, CUNY Graduate Center, where she has facilitated programming and marketing. Most recently, she is the founder of Starfish Studio Arts, a teaching studio spanning creative disciplines. As an accomplished watercolorist and trained opera singer, she has staged solo exhibitions on Long Island and performed throughout the New York region. She currently serves as the Development Chair for the eVoco Voice Collective.
