Veldt

An open, uncultivated country or grassland in southern Africa. It is conventionally classified by altitude into highveld, middleveld, and lowveld.

Kopje

A kopje is a small isolated hill. According to various online dictionaries, the term comes from the Dutch kopje, “a little head.” Accrding to Greg Ladon's Blog, they are often, but not always, made of granite or granite mixed with quartz or quarzite.

Donga

In Southern Africa is a washed out ravine or gully or a dry, eroded watercourse. Accoridnf to Wiktionary, the word comes from the Nguni group of languages. (In Australia a word with the same spelling but a different origin is a “ transportable building with single rooms, often used on remote work sites or as tourist accommodation.”
